The Nuts & Bolts of the Bible MessageThe Concept of Male and Female Aspects of Life |
Third Basic Concept
The concept of male and female aspects of an individual is much more important than appears to be realized in the world today. In the Spiritual sense, each of these aspects have specific functions in the creative process, and neither can be creative without the other.
When we look at a word picture of an individual, individual.pdf, we see that the main sub-aspects of the male and female aspects are joined together and create the soul. Just why is this necessary? It is because the process of living requires activity in a reality below the reality of the individual's true existence. The essence of the individual's existence is life, and the reality through which the individual learns and grows is temporary and of a different nature than that of the individual's life--just as the math symbols on a piece of paper are temporary and of a different nature from the concepts they symbolize. Life does not truly exist in the lower reality. It is only the cause of activity in the lower reality. Since the lower reality is of a different nature, there must be a way to interpret that different nature relative to what the life in the individual needs to learn and grow. This is an intellectual process, which the life or female aspect of the individual is not capable of doing. Therefore, the male aspect of the individual is necessary to carry out this function; and he is temporary also--from dust you came and to dust you will return. In the same way, the male aspect is not capable of having any desire for change and is without feeling. This produces a condition where the male aspect must be given a purpose by the female aspect, and the male aspect creates the relationship or situation in the lower reality to satisfy the purpose given by the female aspect. If the male aspect is not given a purpose--nothing happens because the male aspect must be motivated by the female aspect. Therefore, the female aspect can only satisfy desires through the male aspect.
It is the male aspect's duty to "warn" the female aspect about experiencing anything known to be incorrect--incorrect relationships or situations and the purpose for which they are used. The only way such an experience can occur is for the female aspect to desire something the male aspect knows is wrong, but she continues to persist with that desire resulting in the male aspect acting to produce the desired situation in the lower reality. This is what happened in the Garden of Eden Story. Eve's presistant desire was her way of eating the fruit; so she gave it to Adam. Adam acting on the desire was his way of eating the fruit. It matters not what the activity was because only the concept of how sin occurs is important and the true purpose of the story. Unfortunately, the male aspect can only "warn" of the danger because he has no motivation independent of the female aspect and will act on the female aspect's persistent desires. We all know of times we have done this very thing. Therefore, the only way correct growth can occur is for the female aspect to be obedient to the male aspect's knowledge of right and wrong and desire that the male aspect gain more and more understanding of what is right and wrong.
The marriage of the male and female aspects to create the soul also results in an ego--self-awareness. This means the soul can see itself as part of a higher relationship and identify fully with that relationship--the Tree of Life, or the soul can see itself as separate from other relationships with such relationships serving the soul's purposes in someway--the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The latter view creates the self-serving nature within the individual--contributing to the body of Satan. Naturally, the former view results in the growth of the life of Christ in the individual because, when we identify ourselves only with a higher relationship, that relationship must eventually be the highest one possible for spiritual growth to continue--the body of Christ. More will be discussed on this subject in the next discussion.
A possible meditation focus could be to understand the nature of life. How does it take on the qualities of something totally of a different nature? When we love music and grow in the ability to express a music that is a marriage between the new person we become and the music, what changes took place in the life we were as compared to the life we become? It is interesting to watch a child learning. One child may see something new as having no value to them, and that something becomes only an intellectual awareness to them. Another child may see the same something and attribute it as having great value to them, and spiritual attriibutes of that something becomes a part of who they are as they seek a "marriage" with it. In the first child, there was only a brief intellectual awareness, and probably no more than three steps of the Seven Steps of Spiritual Growth occurred. In the second child the Seven Steps of Spiritual Growth occurred over and over until the "marriage" satisfied the child's desires or the child's abilities were reached. In the same way we should see evil as the first child, and the life in the body of Christ as the second. Of course, we all have life-styles that are maturing or have matured as we follow the Seven Steps of Spiritual Growth. We also have many "things" of which we are aware and in which we have little or no interest. The consequences of experiencing "sin" is clearly illustrated in the Garden of Eden Story.
Since our activity in the physical reality reflects the life-styles with in us, any relationships formed in the physical reality that do not properly reflect correct spiritual growth as those life-styles are expressed will eventually experience unpleasant consequences--experience what GOD is not. Gravity serves a good purpose, but if used incorrectly it can seriously hurt or even kill. We should now recognize the spiritual importance of the male and female aspects of an individual. Their relationship is reflected in the physical reality as physical forms with different capabilities and functions. If those forms are used in ways that do not properly reflect the correct spiritual relationship of the male and female aspects, then there will eventually be harmful consequences in the physical reality. Considering the importance of these two spiritual aspects, the harmful consequences will most likely be very serious as time progresses.
The two trees are mentioned briefly in the Garden of Eden Story. The concept of the two trees when combined with the other concepts already discussed deserves much more discussion than they are usually given, though, because they reveal life to us in much greater detail.
