Living with the Answer

Bill Holman, Huntsville, AL
November 27, 1996

If you have a poem similar in nature to the one below, we would like to place it on this WEB site. To qualify, it must hint at a truth we rarely consider but is a truth all the same.

Epigraph: Infinitely more important than the answers are the questions,
the choice of them, the inner form of them. --- Oswald Spengler

Oh the doubts, the doubts!
We need to heed our inner whispers.
But how can we hear them among the shouts?
Among the shouting doubts?

The Question, the Question!
What is The Question?
Seek and you will find, they say
The answer to what's on your mind today.

The Real Question is:
What answer do we want to hear?
When we're ready with the Question,
The Answer will appear.

So our challenge in life
Is not to seek the Answer,
But to find the right Question
So that we can live with the Answer
When it does appear.

RLC comment ......

All paths of discovery begin with a question--not an answer we desire.
Following the correct path produces the spiritual changes in us
represented by the answer that we find. Answers without
spiritual changes have no meaning or value to us.
